SCOTTISH ENGINEERING AWARDS 2020 EXCEED ALL EXPECTATIONS

The CEED (Centre for Engineering Excellence & Education) Scotland awards which took place at the Hilton Glasgow on 20 February attracted 550 delegates from the cream of the Scottish engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Awards were made in 15 different categories ranging from circular economy and knowledge exchange to best practice sharing and skills development.  Entries were up 50% on last year's inaugural event.

CEO Joe Pacitti said: "The 2020 awards have exceeded all expectations with a record number of entries with the quality of submissions extremely high which made the judging very challenging.  There was a real buzz around the event and shows that the Scottish engineering, technology and manufacturing sector is thriving and making a major and significant contribution to the economy.

He added: "We would like to congratulate all the winners for their awards were well deserved and hard won.  Also we had a record number of delegates attend the event which is now a landmark date in the Scottish business calendar.  CEED is all about sharing best practice and ideas in a collaborative community and the awards clearly demonstrate that there is a passion within Scottish industry to help other succeed in business.  I would also like to thank our sponsors and supporters who make the awards possible."

Sponsors of this year's awards were eCom Scotland, University of the West of Scotland, Skills Development Scotland, Star Refrigeration, SmartCrowds, Zero Waste Scotland, Nine Twenty Recruitment, Scottish Institute for Remanufacturing, Robertson FM, Alexander Dennis, Diodes Semiconductor GB, The Scottish Government, Booth Welsh.  A raffle held during the evening raised funds for SmartStems, a charity which aims to encourage children to take an interest in STEM careers through a series of hands-on events and experiences.
