An event like no other.

Seco Tools (UK) has reported that its recently-held ‘Inspiration through Innovation’ Open House that took place at the company’s Technology Centre on the 10th and 11th October 2017 was a huge success with over 715 visitors attending the event over the two days.

Now in its fourth year, Inspiration through Innovation has become one of the UK’s premier annual advanced manufacturing best-practice events and is a firm favourite with Technical Partners and UK and Irish component manufacturers alike.

This time around, as in previous years, Inspiration through Innovation 2017 had something for everyone. The main highlights included:

In addition, the event was also used by Seco to promote a number of its own recently-introduced business solutions and product innovations from the purpose-built Seco pavilion - an area specially-designed for the Open House.

Commented Mike Fleming:

“We were delighted by visitor turnout and by the commitment and response shown from all our Technical Partners.

“Last year’s event was supported by 40 Technical Partners. This year that number rose to over 50 Partners…proving that Inspiration through Innovation is both valued and continues to grow in popularity.”

Further evidence concerning the popularity and pulling power of the event (amongst Technical Partners) was highlighted by Mr Stewart Coull, managing director of Jemtech Ltd, the exclusive distributor of Blaser Swisslube metal working fluids in the UK and Ireland, and the company responsible for the design, manufacture and supply of Oracle fluid management systems.

Commented Mr Coull:

“We have attended Seco’s Inspiration through Innovation Open Houses every year, and I can honestly say that the 2017 event has been the best yet.

“We have been impressed with the volume and type of enquiries from visitors and, the machining demonstration we helped organise with GROB Machine Tools, Open Mind, Nikken and Seco, generated significant interest too.”

It was a similar situation with Thame Workholding - a company that has supported Seco’s Inspiration through Innovation Open Houses for the past four years.

Said Mr Danny Brook, Southern Sales Manager at Thame Workholding:

“We have recently introduced a number of new workholding solutions into the market and used Seco’s Inspiration through Innovation event to help promote them to our target audiences. The event is always well attended and this year was no different.

“Our attendance has generated a number of genuine and serious enquiries which we are now actively following up.”

As well as ‘established’ Technical Partners exhibiting at the event, a number of new Partners attended Inspiration through Innovation for the very first time. These included US-based MachineMetrics.

Commented MachineMetrics’ Co-founder and Partner, Mr Eric Fogg:

“This was our first time at Inspiration through Innovation and I was impressed. The event provided the ideal opportunity to meet with UK and Irish manufacturers, and for us to demonstrate our machine monitoring software solutions to a knowledgeable and committed audience.”

The final words regarding this year’s Inspiration through Innovation event are from Richard Jelfs, Seco’s Managing Director, who opened the event by delivering a typically passionate and inspiring address on the morning of the first day to an assembled group of Technical Partners.

Said Richard Jelfs:

“Our objective with Inspiration through Innovation has always been to create an inspiring and practical event that is truly customer-focused and that demonstrates to visitors and partners alike that significant improvements in productivity, quality and performance can be best achieved through collaboration and by sharing best practice.

“This year we wanted the event to be bigger and better than in previous Open Houses - and I think we succeeded.

“More Technical Partners were involved. We also increased the number of machining demonstrations taking place and made sure they were more innovative, more challenging and, as a consequence, more appealing. And we ensured that each of our best-practice seminars was relevant and was focused on a contemporary manufacturing issue.

“The latest feedback from this year’s event, from visitors, Technical Partners and the media demonstrates that we achieved our objective and that, thanks to all of our endeavours, Inspiration through Innovation is a ‘must-see…must attend’ event.”
